Hill Gustat Middle School

Getting to class on time is important between bells. We give 2 minutes at the end of each period, put belongings in their backpack and put supplies away. We give 3 minutes between classes for class change. We are noticing that students are taking more and more time to get to class, which is a distraction to the teacher when we have to open the doors after they are shut and locked. Parents, keep in mind that we must keep doors locked at ALL times, and the interruption of being late to class is starting to have an impact on the learning of students who are on time.

Parents, we will assign detention to habitually tardy students. This information can be found on page 39 of the Student Code of Conduct.

Please speak with your child about getting to class on time!

⚠️ Limited to the First 100 8th Graders. The waiting list will start at the 100th child.

✅ Requirements:
📊 90% Attendance the Second Semester
📚 No Grades less than 60% by March 13, 2026.
📝 No Credit Recovery, must be done with all Credit Recovery Courses by March 13, 2026.
🚫 No more than 2 Referrals for the semester.
❗ All funds will be non-refundable.

We are holding tryouts for our indoor competition team this Thursday and Friday from 4-7pm in the SHS Band Room. There will be a team officer at the front gate guiding students to the band room both days. You must attend both days of tryouts to be considered. This is open to all 8th grade students.

“IEP Binder for Parents” Webinar
Parents will create an organizational binder of educationally relevant documentation and activities that will assist in maintaining records and promoting positive communication 

In this session, the binder will be utilized so that parents can be prepared, actively listen and become an informed voice during IEP meetings.  Parents will possess the “tools of the trade” allowing them to actively engage in the planning of their child’s educational career and be equal members of the IEP Team.
