Last week was a Medieval Times experience for our 4th grade leaders! Students started their morning with a Medieval Field Day filled with games from the Middle Ages including catapults, horse races, horse shoes, and pick up sticks! Students then did project rotations where students created catapults, stained glass windows, and shields. Then they concluded their day with a Medieval Feast with a special jousting match and dance. Thank you to all of our amazing families for partnering with us during parent conference week! Tonight culminated our conferences with Fall Literacy Leadership Conference Night. Families had a chance to visit different literacy themed stations to help them practice reading at home! Yesterday was a paint party for our 3rd grade leaders hosted by The Red Easel. Students have been learning about classification of animals and today they got to pick a picture from one of the classifications and paint it! Students used their artistic geniuses and the masterpieces they created look awesome! #ItsSWEETtobeanEagle #TheWoodlawnWay

Thursday was GAME DAY for our 1st 9 Weeks GOAL Getters! 80% of our Woodlawn Leaders reached their Reading WIG and today they got their GAME on with their friends. When Milton blows through an already crazy October, you’ve got to bring out all the stops to celebrate and thank a staff who jumps in feet first to get all things back on track. It’s been a busy week at Woodlawn, but our amazing team handled it like champs. We had the opportunity to announce our Leadership Ambassador Executive Board! These students will be the leaders of our leadership ambassador team. We are proud of them and can’t wait to see the impact they have at Woodlawn this year. #itssweettobeaneagle #thewoodlawnway

1st grade participated in their Human Body rotations as they culminated their unit in ELA. Students got hands on experiences with different body systems. From building skeletal systems, helping muscles move their bodies, and seeing the journey of digestion…our first grade leaders had a blast. #itssweettobeaneagle #thewoodlawnway

We hope all of our Woodlawn families weathered the storm and are safe! We had such a wonderful work crew show up to help get Woodlawn ready for staff and students on Monday! Yesterday was Custodian Appreciation Day and we loved having the opportunity love on our amazing crew. They are small in number but mighty in action. They work tirelessly to clean our school and also to help fix and solve facility related issues. It takes a team and we are blessed this crew is part of ours. #itssweettobeaneagle #thewoodlawnway

It was a SWEET day for professional learning after school on Wednesday. Staff were treated to Chick-Fil-A for lunch and then spent time collaborating around data, setting classroom W.I.G.s using the 4 Disciplines of Execution, and digging into our new teacher performance appraisal rubric. #itssweettobeaneagle #thewoodlawnway

Last week, we trained our Leadership Ambassadors who are going to serve as Win Win Buddies for our younger students. The students discussed what it meant to be a mentor and learned how this leadership role works on our campus. Even cooler is that seasoned mentors took time giving wisdom to new peer mentors by answering questions and giving suggestions. 🐄🐓🐐🐴 It was a fun day on the FARM for our kindergarten leaders. Students have been learning about Facts and Opinions with farm topics and Friday they got a chance to see what farm life is really like. Last week was our Family Movie Night hosted by our Parent Lighthouse Team! 🍿 🎥 It was a packed house in our cafeteria with so many of our families and their eagles enjoying their time together. Yesterday was National IT Professionals Day and we have to give a shout out to our two amazing tech gurus, Mrs. Noethlich and Mrs. Gauger. These two ladies are the magic behind all things tech and work to problem solve and support our big campus so that we are in full operation with Internet, laptops, chromebooks, our website, online programs, and more.
